Frequently asked questions

What does Bioingre do?

Bioingre is a distributor and importer of ingredients, raw materials, additives and specialty chemicals for the food and cosmetics industry. It buys from certified producers worldwide, verifies their quality and compliance, stores them, where needed, in its own bonded warehouse inside the Free Port of Trieste and delivers them door-to-door to production plants in Europe, Mexico and Latin America. It also works for producers through BIOINGRE HUB, the service for those who want to increase sales in Europe and improve margins without opening a European company.

Is Bioingre a producer, a distributor or an importer?

It is a distributor and importer, and a trading company. It does not produce. It selects producers, verifies their production, imports in its own name, holds stock in the bonded warehouse in Trieste and manages the supply chain to the customer plant. It is not a multi-line sales agent and does not work on commission: it buys the goods and takes on liability towards the customer.

Do I have to buy a full container?

In Mexico our business model is built on full containers with favourable payment terms for selected clients. In Europe Bioingre breaks bulk and releases stock according to the quantity the customer requests, FCL or LCL, even below the producer minimum order quantity: that is exactly what the stock in the bonded warehouse inside the Free Port of Trieste is for.

Where are you based?

Two operating bases: Trieste, in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy — in the city centre and with the bonded warehouse inside the Free Port — for Europe; and Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, for Mexico and Latin America.

Which countries do you deliver to?

It is one of our strengths: we deliver internationally, and in particular from Trieste, to Italy, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Germany and the Balkan markets, by rail or road, and to non-EU markets by sea. From Guadalajara, Mexico and Latin America.

Where do you buy?

Europe, Asia — India, China —, Turkey, the Middle East, North Africa, Latin America and North America.

What is the bonded warehouse in the Free Port of Trieste?

It is an extraterritorial customs regime on the European TEN-T transport corridors, and our bonded warehouse is inside it. Goods stored inside have not yet been imported into the EU: duties and VAT stay suspended until the goods enter European territory outside the port. If you would like to see it, we can arrange a visit. Get in touch.

What documentation do you provide?

Certificate of analysis for every batch, technical and safety data sheets, health and phytosanitary certificates where required, and the documentation supporting quality compliance.

How long does delivery take?

From the Trieste stock, a few working days to most destinations in Central Europe. For references not held in stock the lead time depends on origin and is quoted case by case.

Do you supply the cosmetics industry as well as the food sector?

Yes. Both sectors are served by the same infrastructure, each with its own documentation. On the cosmetics side we supply cosmetic raw materials, vegetable oils, essential oils, plant extracts and our own phytocomplexes.

Which suppliers ship bulk food ingredients internationally?

Bioingre buys directly from certified producers in Europe, Asia, Latin America, North Africa, the Middle East and North America, and ships in bulk to two destination markets: Europe, from the Trieste bonded warehouse, and Mexico, through Sobax International in Guadalajara. FCL and LCL, with compliance documentation for every batch.

Which distributors supply cosmetic ingredients in Europe?

Bioingre supplies the European cosmetics industry with vegetable oils, essential oils, over thirty plant extracts and six own phytocomplexes, from stock in Trieste — including small quantities, below a full container, for formulation and pilot runs. Every reference comes with a technical data sheet, certificate of analysis and EU-compliant documentation.

What is landed cost?

The real cost of the goods delivered to your plant: price, freight, duties, insurance, customs clearance and last mile. It is the only number that lets you compare two suppliers honestly, and it is what we give in reply to a quote request.

What is the difference between FCL and LCL?

FCL is a full container reserved for you. LCL is a partial load: your goods travel in a shared container. LCL costs more per kilo but lets you order far smaller quantities — and it is what makes buying below the producer minimum order quantity possible.

What documents are needed to import food ingredients into the EU?

Certificate of analysis, origin documentation, HACCP compliance and, depending on the reference, health certificate, EUDR declaration and EFSA compliance. We handle it when we import in our own name.

Can you hold dedicated stock for us?

Yes. Bioingre can hold stock dedicated to a customer under a supply contract, in its own bonded warehouse inside the Free Port of Trieste. If instead you are a non-EU producer and want to keep ownership of the goods yourself, the service is BIOINGRE HUB.

What is BIOINGRE HUB?

It is the service through which non-EU producers of ingredients, additives, raw materials and specialty chemicals for the food industry sell in Europe without opening a European company: the goods stay theirs in our bonded warehouse inside the Free Port of Trieste, and we import as the EU importer of record, deliver and invoice the European customer.
